Exceptional early years childcare in the heart of the Cotswolds

About Us

Winchcombe Playgroup is a community not-for-profit organisation in the heart of Winchcombe, a short distance from the local primary school.

The Playgroup is Ofsted registered and provides a wide range of educational activities to prepare children for school life.

Above all, we recognise the importance of play and provide children with opportunities to learn and develop through play in a happy and nurturing environment with their peers.

About Us

Your child is eligible for 15 hours free each week. This is funded by the government and starts the term after their third birthday.

Full and half-day sessions are available.

Additional hours are charged at just £4.70 per hour. We accept Childcare Vouchers.

Traditional Playgroup with a modern outlook

With roots held in our local community, you may have been a member of Winchcombe Playgroup yourself in your early years!

The traditional values of learning through play and providing a safe, caring and nurturing environment at Playgroup continue, though now our facilities and outlook are modern and forward-thinking.

When considering preschool childcare for your children, do arrange to take a look round Winchcombe Playgroup to see what we can offer your family. You will see how the modern Playgroup setting gives your child the very best start in their early years education.

Clare Brady

Early Years Manager

I am passionate about outdoor play and learning.  I love working in early years where I feel like I can make a difference to the lives of the children in my care.

I have had the opportunity over the 25 years of my career to work in various different early years environments.

I lived in Australia with my husband and three children for 11 years and relocated back to the UK last year.  Whilst there I worked as a teacher’s assistant and as an early years lead gaining a wealth of valuable experience.

Vicki Roberts

Early Years Deputy Manager

I have been working in child care for over 8 years and enjoy every aspect of my job.

I'm extremely passionate about providing a nurturing environment for all children to learn and develop self confidence and social skills.

I love nothing more than planning exciting and engaging activities for the children on a daily basis.

Jasmine Curr

Early Years Practitioner

I started working at Winchcombe Playgroup as an apprentice in 2013 and completed my levels 2 and 3 here.

I was given the opportunity to stay and I am now Key Worker in Pre-school.

I love being part of the playgroup setting, getting to know all the different personalities makes every day worthwhile!

Olivia Brady

Early Years Practitioner

I have been working with children since I was 16 and have completed my Level 2 and 3 in childcare.

I recently joined the Winchcombe Early Years team and love being a part of such a welcoming, friendly and fun environment!

Growing up in Australia, I found a passion for outdoor play and believe it is a vital aspect to the early years. I love spending time with the children in the garden and Forest School. I am passionate about ensuring every child has the best possible opportunities to learn and grow.

I love working with children and can’t wait to be a part their new learning adventures every day!

Mira Miers

Early Years Practitioner

I started working as a volunteer when my eldest daughter was in the setting 10 years ago. I continued as bank staff and am now part of the permanent team.

I love working with all of the children and feel passionately about helping them to enjoy their time at Playgroup and watching them grow and learn.

I teach French at Playgroup being qualified in delivering the 'la Jolie Ronde' programme.

I have lived and worked in Spain, France and the USA before moving to the UK.

Temp Team

To cover staff holidays, sickness and training days, we have a wonderful and dedicated bank of temporary staff.  Our temps are well known at playgroup and loved by all the children.

If you are interested in joining our bank of temporary staff, please contact us.

We work closely with Worcester College as a base for their student placements. We also offer apprenticeship placements, and offer a wealth of experience and support for those building a career in childcare.

We are very fortunate to have some ladies and gentlemen who, in their retirement, generously give us their time.

They are invaluable in helping out at lunchtimes, doing odd jobs and gardening, or by sitting and listening to the children and their stories. The children love our volunteers and some wonderful bonds are formed.

This means we have a very diverse team, which meets
the needs of our community on many levels.

Early Years Foundation Stage Framework

Winchcombe Playgroup follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

A child’s time at playgroup takes part in a very important stage in their development. So, as well as helping them get ready for school, we help prepare them for their future learning and successes.

To help you find out more about how your child learns and develops during their first five years, in relation to the EYFS and how you can support this, please read the  What To Expect, When guide.

The early years experience should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure – and we are here to help support their development, their care and their learning needs.

Find out more about the EYFS, and how you can help with your child’s learning in this Parent’s Guide to EYFS Framework.
